Huangshan City Overview

Huangshan is situated in the south of Anhui Province and bordered on Jiangxi and Zhejiang Provinces. Huangshan's preexistence was named Huizhou, which existed more than two thousand years ago in Qing Dynasty and had jurisdiction over two counties (Shexian, Yixian), it was once a land of celebrities, who created the splendid Huizhou Culture.

Huangshan is an international tourist city, with unique and rich tourist resources. The most distinctive feature is that the natura1 beauty of the landscape matches and associates harmoniously with the historic and cultural signs, Huangshan Scenic Zone, one of the world wonders, was listed as the world cultural and natural heritage by UNESCO in 1990. Huangshan City boasts its tremendous tourism resources. Two sites are listed as world heritages, one as a world Geopark, three as national key scenic areas, one is listed as a national “AAAA” tourist attraction, and eighteen as national ”AAAA” tourist attractions.

Huangshan Scenie Area is the best example of all. Honored as a “National Treasure”, the national park features its uniquely-shaped pine trees, awesome rock formations, spectacular sea of clouds, recuperative hot springs, and fantastic winter snow scenery. As the old saying goes, “When one has visitedthe five mountains in central China, he will not be tempted to see any other mountains, but once he has seen the views of Huangshan, the five mountains seem sttractive no longer.” Apart from the extraordinary Huangshan, there are also many other places of interest and cultural relics inside the city.
